BIO

HI!
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I am from Memphis TN, the birthplace of Rock n Roll and Home of the Blues. Also, home to a vibrant arts community, that has profoundly influenced my love and passion for theatre. To quote Huey Calhoun's song from the musical Memphis, "Memphis Lives In Me!" I know it's a little cliché, but it's true.
Here is another cliché sentiment, my mother always said: "Jeremy has been performing since he was a baby."... From when I was in preschool I've always been involved with school plays from elementary to high school. I went to Overton High School in Memphis and was a member of the Creative and Performing Arts Optional Program. The CAPA program made Overton the only nationally accredited high school for the arts in West Tennessee. My high school journey led me to work on an episode of MTV's made where I met and worked with John O'Connell from Arkansas State University.
That's where I learned about A-State's Theatre program (a small intimate theatre program that was genuinely committed to developing the artist), went on a tour of there campus, and fell in love with the program. I attended Arkansas State and received my BFA in Theatre Arts (Acting emphasis). After graduation I spent my summers working as a professional actor with various historical dramas, Trumpet in the Land in OH, Sword of Peace in NC... but eventually I realized that I wanted to master my craft and process and needed to pursue my MFA.
I then auditioned at Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) Graduate School auditions thinking it would take a couple of years and several auditions to find the perfect program for me, but I was wrong. I was called back by the one and only Sean Boyd of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he invited to their upfront auditions at their University. I attended these upfronts, and from the first moment, I step through the doors of the Theater Building on campus I knew I had to be a part of this program. The MFA program at USM was not a program geared to one specific style, that when you're done with the program, you are branded as an actor of that university's style. Instead, Southern Miss's program encouraged one to explore different styles, while working and defining more effectively their process as a collaborative artist. Low and behold, I lucked into a spot in their cohort for the 2018 class. While at Southern, my passion not just for theatre was rekindled, but I found a new love in ensemble building, and Lessac Voice and Body Training.
Now I've graduated with my MFA, and I'm excited, charging forth, and looking forward to where my journey as an Actor - Educator - Director will take me!
